Deutz - A long history

In 1864 Nicolaus August Otto founded the world's first engine factory. He did this under the name Eugen Langen la N.A. Otto & Cie. Thirty years later the first DEUTZ tractor was built in America. This tractor contained a 26 hp gasoline engine. It then took until 1927 before the first DEUTZ tractor with a diesel engine was built: the DEUTZ MTH 222. The construction of this model was the kick-off for the mass production of so-called standard tractors.

As DEUTZ continued to develop, the first DEUTZ tractor with an air-cooled diesel engine saw the light of day in 1949. In 1955 a milestone was reached: the 100,000th tractor was produced.

In the years that followed DEUTZ continued to develop which resulted in some very popular tractors. Think of the DEUTZ 06 series, the most successful series ever, or the various AGROSTAR versions.
